Description: AKON

Akon to Holmenkollen

TAC main sponsor Nokia delivers the scene and artists at this years event. One of the worlds most selling hip hop artist AKON performes together with up-and-coming Norwegian bands Pirate Love and Ida Maria. In addition to this you can download the TAC soundtracks at Djuice.no

TAC have always had international ambitions and – results. Last year Terje Haakonsen flew incredible 9.8 meters over the TAC quarterpipe and got a new world record. Together with Nokia, TAC has developed a music consept with ditto ambitions.  Senegal born AKON doesn`t need much of an introduction. With massive hits as “Smack that” with Eminem and “I wanna love you” with Snoop Dogg he is a big time artist all over the world. His music is a mix of hip-hop, pop, R & B and reggae. And he is the only artist to ever accomplish the feat of holding both the number one and two spots simultaneously on the Billboard hot 100 twice.
With sales numbers over 10 million records, and one of the most played radio artists last year, he is our biggest name. But Nokia and TAC will also offer the music interested more than the Sengal born star:

Norwegian press have predicted a promising future for the up-and-coming rockband Pirate Love. This Norwegian rockband describes themselves as “Black Punk” which actually is a fitting description. The band is playing an uncompromising mix of punk and traditional garage rock, with a hint of surfing guitars.
The music is hard, honest and exotic, but most of all catchy, and they will play on stage 11.50 Saturday 23rd February.

And there is more. Without even releasing their debut album, Ida Maria has really put their mark upon the map. They are looked upon as one of Norway’s most promising bands. Their catchy pop songs have been terrorizing the radiowaves with heavy rotation. And their reputation as an extremely charismatic live band, isn’t actually stopping the buzz. Expect an energetic live performance at TAC, 12.25 Saturday 23rd February.

The last three years the administration in The Oakley Arctic Challenge has made a special soundtrack for the event. Some of the best rock musicians Norway has to offer from bands like Euroboys, Amulet, Silver, Elvira Nicolaisen, Furia, Howl and Cato Salsa Experience has contributed togehter with the the TAC-band, Kris Andersen Band. Andy Finch, previous TAC-winner, played his violin in the song ”Going Home” in 2006.
This year the tracks ”One way or the other” and ”Midnight Special” (with Terje Haakonsen himself on the triangel), is like champagne of the finest rockbrand to the ears.
TAC established an independent record company, and you can download all the six songs from Djuice. This is the first time this music is available for sale. Enjoy!
